Naval personnel attached to SLNS Mahanaga in Panama belonging to the Southeastern Naval Command rescued 3 fishermen who were onboard fishing boat, “Naleesha Putha 4”, yesterday (15).

The Defence Services Hockey Tournament which was conducted for the 9th time at the Hockey Grounds of Sports Ministry from 9th to 12thAugust 2016, saw the Sri Lanka Navy Men’s and Women’s Hockey Teams emerge champions in the tournament for the first time in its history.

Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 18 Sri Lankans, who were on an illegal migration attempt to Australia by boat, in the seas off 40 Nautical Miles off Batticaloa yesterday morning (15). The migrants have left from Valaichchenai onboard a Multi-Day Fishing Vessel named “Blue Star”.

Naval personnel attached to SLNS Kalani in Pamunugama in the Western Naval Command apprehended two persons who were transporting 4.7 kg of Kerala Cannabis in the general area of Wattala yesterday (12).

As yet another project of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community service programmes carried out with the intention of preventing Chronic Kidney Disease, a Reverse Osmosis system was installed at the premises of Hambegamuwa Rajamaha Viharaya for the community use and it was declared open Project Director of the Presidential Task force on Prevention of Kidney Disease, Mr. Asela Iddawela yesterday (12).

The Annual Fleet Rigging Competition – 2016 organized by Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet (FOCNF) and staff was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 12th August 2016.
