INS Kalpeni (T-75), a Fast Attack Craft (FAC) belonging to the Indian Navy, arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit today (19th October 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting FAC in compliance with naval traditions.

Rear Admiral Lashanth N Hewawitharana, Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, assumed duties as Director General Services of the Sri Lanka Navy at the Navy Headquarters today (18th October 2024).

The 2nd IORIS Steering Committee Policy Board and Working Groups Meeting concluded in Colombo on 16th October 2024. Co-hosted by the IORIS Steering Committee and Sri Lanka Navy, the 2nd IORIS Steering Committee Policy Board and Working Groups Meeting was held on 15th and 16th October at Courtyard, Colombo.

A group of officers and directing staff members from the Indian Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC) who are on a study tour to Sri Lanka, visited the Navy Headquarters today (15th October 2024). The HDMC delegation was headed by Colonel Kedar D Gupte. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the visiting officers were welcomed by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

The 2nd IORIS Steering Committee Policy Board and Working Groups Meeting commenced today (15th October 2024) at Courtyard, Colombo, with Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Navy, gracing the event as the Chief Guest.

The Sri Lanka Navy Marines successfully conducted the third edition of the "Marines Field Training Exercise, Blue Whale – 2024" from 7th to 13th October 2024. The exercise took place along the North-Western coast and surrounding coastal areas. The Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando presided over the closing ceremony of Blue Whale 2024, held at the Marines Headquarters, SLNS Vidura in Trincomalee.

Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Navy, graced the second session of the General Convocation 2024 of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) as the Chief Guest. The event took place today (14th October 2024) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. This year's convocation, held on 14th and 15th October, will award degrees to 1,732 graduates from various faculties and affiliated military institutions.

Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 11th October 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera formally handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris at the Navy Headquarters today (14th October) and expressed his best wishes to the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff.

Italian Naval Ship ‘PPA MONTECUCCOLI’ which arrived in Sri Lanka on 10th October 2024, departed the island today (13th October), on successful completion of her formal visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the Colombo port, following naval traditions.

The Sri Lanka Navy conducted beach cleaning programmes covering the Galle Fort and Hambantota fisheries harbour today (12th October 2024).
