Navy-built “Sanghawasa” building of Ilangamgoda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Kamburupitiya declared open

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera declared open the “Sanghawasa” building of Ilangamgoda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya in Sapugoda, Kamburupitiya today (24th July 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy enabled its industrial expertise and manpower for the construction of this “Sanghawasa” building.

Several infrastructure facilities in North Central Naval Command declared open

In a significant boost to the capabilities and welfare of naval personnel, several new infrastructure facilities, made possible by industrial expertise and manpower of the Navy, were officially declared open by the Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando on 22nd July 2024.

USS Michael Murphy arrives in Colombo

USS Michael Murphy of the United States Navy arrived at the port of Colombo on a formal visit today (23rd July 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval traditions.

Cluster meeting of ReCAAP commences in Colombo

The cluster meeting of Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) got underway at the Kingsbury Colombo today (23rd July 2024) under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera. The event was also graced by the Executive Director of ReCAAP Information Sharing Centre (ISC), Mr. Krishnaswami Natarajan, the Governor of Sri Lanka to ReCCAP ISC and Director General Operations of the Navy, Rear Admiral Nishantha Peiris, representatives of ReCAAP member countries and local stakeholders.

Certificate awarding of Maritime Boarding Exercise with Radiological & Nuclear Incident Scenario Course held in Trincomalee

The Sri Lanka Navy, under the sponsorship of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), hosted a course on Maritime Boarding Exercise with Radiological & Nuclear Incident Scenarios at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters and Sobar Island Resort, Trincomalee from 08th to 19th July 2024. The certificate awarding of the course was held under the patronage of the Chief of the Defence Forces, Seychelles, Brigadier Michael Rosette on 19th July.

UNODC with funds from government of Japan provides Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat to Sri Lanka Navy

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), with the generous funding from the government of Japan, handed over a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) to the Sri Lanka Navy. The Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, H.E. MIZUKOSHI Hideaki handed over the RHIB to the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (19th July 2024).
