Marking a major advancement in bolstering the Sri Lanka Coast Guard's training capabilities, H.E. Julie Chung, the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, officially inaugurated a Ship-in-a-Box maritime training simulator at the Advanced Training Centre Kirinda of Sri Lanka Coast Guard today (15th August 2024). Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando declared open a renovated playground stage at Talaimannar Pier Vidyalayam, Mannar today (12th August 2024). The Navy mustered its manpower and industrial expertise to renovate the stage, which was in dilapidated condition.

Captain Erald Dharmarathna (Master Mariner) donated two Belgian Malinois puppies, along with essential equipment, to the Sri Lanka Navy's Military Working Dog (MWD) unit on 09th August 2024. This substantial contribution was formally received by Acting Commandant Naval Infantry, Commodore Sanath Pitigala, marking a significant enhancement in the operational capabilities of the Navy’s (MWD) unit.
