RO plant at Parasangaswewa, Anuradhapura declared open for community use
The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project by the Navy's Research and Development Unit was declared open at Nigrodharama Viharaya in Parasangaswewa, Anuradhapura today (16 Feb 25). The project, carried out with industrial expertise of the Research and Development Unit, was funded by the Sirasa Gammadda CSR initiative. Also, the facility marked the 1080th unit delivered under the NSR Project.

Navy joins forces to clean beaches and tourist hotspots
In support of the government's Clean Sri Lanka initiative, the Sri Lanka Navy lent its helping hand to various cleanup programmes across the Western, Southeastern, and Eastern Provinces on 15 and 16 Feb 25. These efforts included cleaning beaches and popular tourist spots under the "A Beautiful Beach - An Attractive Tourist Destination" project.

Sri Lanka and UK elevate hydrographic cooperation
In a major step forward for Sri Lanka's efforts to boost its hydrographic capabilities, the Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office (SLNHO) and the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) inked a historic bilateral arrangement today (14 Feb 25). The event took place at the Ministry of Defence, underscoring the commitment to strengthen collaboration in hydrography. The partnership will focus on knowledge sharing, capacity development, technical cooperation, and generating revenue by marketing Sri Lanka’s hydrographic products globally.

Sri Lanka Navy boosts sports shooting with refurbished rifles
The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) played a key role in reviving sports shooting by refurbishing 34 decommissioned 84S semi-automatic rifles for the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka (NRASL). The refurbished rifles were distributed among registered shooting clubs at the Panaluwa Firing Range on 08 Feb 25.

Three hundred and sixty-seven (367) recruits of 256th intake of Regular and Volunteer Naval Forces pass out in Boossa
After completion of their basic training, 219 recruits of Regular and 148 recruits of Volunteer Naval Forces of the Sri Lanka Navy, belonging to the 256th intake, passed out in a colourful ceremony held at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna, Boossa on 11 Feb 25.

Delegation from Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College visits Navy Headquarters
A delegation from Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College, currently in Sri Lanka on their international study tour, visited the Navy Headquarters in Colombo today (11 Feb 25). During the visit, the head of delegation Colonel Lausanne Nsengimana Ingabire along with a group of senior officers called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.
