Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) sets Serendib World Record climbing Adam's Peak in record time
Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) of the Sri Lanka Navy achieved a remarkable feat, setting a Serendib World Record for climbing Adam's Peak (Sri Pada) in an impressive time of 23 hours and 46 minutes, using four different routes. He achieved this record by becoming the first person to complete the most ascents of Adam's Peak within 24 hours, conquering all four routes of Nallathanniya, Erathna, Palabaddala, and Malingboda.

Sri Lanka Navy Directorate of Naval Design receives IESL recognition
Sri Lanka Navy Directorate of Naval Design (DND) received recognition from the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) to train Graduate Engineers for Corporate Membership of IESL (Chartered Engineer) in the Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture disciplines. The Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Engineering, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe presented the certification received in this regard to the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera today (08th April 2024).

The Indo-Sri Lanka Annual Canoeing Sprint – 2024 is set to take place from Talaimannar to Dhanushkodi on10th and 11th April 2024. Mr. JMCT Jayasundara, Managing Director of Ceylon Cold Beverages, the drinking water sponsor of the event, met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at Navy Headquarters on 08th April to confirm sponsorship in a symbolic gesture.

Preliminary discussions on transfer of EX- U.S. Coast Guard Medium Endurance Cutter USCGC Decisive held at Navy Headquarters
In a significant development, successful preliminary discussions were held at the Navy Headquarters, Colombo from 03rd to 05th April 2024, regarding the transfer of the EX-U.S. Coast Guard Medium Endurance Cutter USCGC Decisive to the Sri Lanka Navy. The meeting was chaired by Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Saman Perera and the Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation U.S. Embassy in Colombo, Commander Sean Jin.

Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy
Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 04th April 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera formally handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe at the Navy Headquarters on 08th April 2024 and expressed his best wishes to the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff.

Navy steps up disaster preparedness efforts in Kalutara
The Sri Lanka Navy facilitated programmes on disaster response and basic first aid and lifesaving at the beach area of Kalutara on 19th and 29th March 2024. The programmes coordinated by the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Rear Training Area (RRTA), Kalutara and District Disaster Management Coordination Unit (DDMCU), Kalutara, focused on stepping up disaster preparedness efforts of disaster management committee members stationed in Kalutara as well as a group of residents of Dodangoda.
