Commander of the Navy visits Southeastern Naval Command
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on a formal visit to the Southeastern Naval Command from the 08th to 10th of May 2024. This visit encompassed a comprehensive overview of operational matters, developmental initiatives, and welfare projects underway within the command. Addressing officers and sailors of the command, the Navy Chief also briefed on how they could dedicate themselves more effectively to fulfill the Navy's duties.

Shedding light on the issue of human trafficking associated with deployments for the Russia-Ukraine war, highlighting the deceptive practice of portraying retired military personnel as recipients of substantial salaries and benefits
A recent disclosure has uncovered a human trafficking scheme including retired military personnel from Sri Lanka's armed forces. These individuals were deceived into believing they would receive significant benefits, including high salaries and citizenship, by joining Russian and Ukrainian forces. They were sent on tourist visas and subsequently deployed for frontline combat in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Senior sailors from the Sri Lanka Navy participated in a one-day workshop, held at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium on 03rd May 2024. The workshop aimed at enhancing their skills and knowledge in various areas, was attended by branch head senior sailors, Master at Arms from ships and establishments, Mess Presidents from senior sailor messes, Master Drill Instructors from training establishments and Chief Instructors.

Navy hands over term of SLCOMM President to Army
The Sri Lanka Navy handed over the term of the President of Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) to the Sri Lanka Army on 26th April 2024. Accordingly, the ceremony to induct new SLCOMM President was held under the patronage of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at Galadari, Colombo. The guest of honour of the occasion was the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Prof. Aloka Pathirana.
