National Hydrographic Office makes waves with new Galle Harbour electronic chart

The Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office (SLNHO) added another feather to its recent streak of achievements with the publication of the new Electronic Navigation Chart (ENC) of the Galle Harbour, at the SLNHO on 31st October 2024. This is the first ENC produced by the Sri Lanka National Hydrographic Office since its establishment.

Navy conducts diving medicine training programme for medical officers of Ministry of Health

In response to a request from the Ministry of Health, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted two workshops for a group of medical officers about diving, marine and hyperbaric medicine training. The workshops were conducted at the Diving Unit in the Eastern Naval Command from 07th to 09th June and on 26th and 27th October 2024.

Commander of the Navy embarks on visit to Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on a formal visit to the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 26th and 27th October 2024. During the visit, the Navy Chief was accompanied by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando. The visit highlighted key welfare, construction, and operational progress in the Eastern Naval Command, where Vice Admiral Perera also addressed officers, officer under trainees, and sailors regarding the role of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Accommodation facilities expanded in Northern Naval Command

The Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Rohitha Abeysinghe declared open a newly constructed Junior Sailors’ Mess at the Pallikuda Coastal Observation Point on 23rd October 2024. This facility, established under the guidance of Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Commander of the Navy, aims to enhance welfare amenities for junior sailors attached to SLNS Welusumana in the Northern Naval Command.
