Australian High Commission provides educational resources to Naval and Maritime Academy
In a gesture aimed at bolstering the educational resources of the Sri Lanka Navy, the Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka provided a collection of books to the Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. The event in this regard took place today (14th June 2024) at the Navy Headquarters, where the books were symbolically presented to Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Commander of the Navy by Colonel Amanda Johnston, the Defence Advisor of Australian High Commission in Colombo.

Commander of the Navy embarks on official visit to Trincomalee South
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera embarked on a formal visit to Trincomalee South within the Eastern Naval Command on 10th June 2024. The purpose of the visit was to assess the status of important welfare and operational matters within the area. In addition, he also addressed a cross section of officers and sailors, regarding operational readiness and future prospects of the organization.

Mangrove planting initiative takes root in Negombo in parallel with World Environment Day
Coinciding with the World Environment Day (05th June), the Sri Lanka Navy partnered with the DFCC Bank to launch a mangrove planting initiative in the Waikkala Lagoon of Negombo on 07th June 2024. This initiative was part of the Navy's ongoing coastal and marine ecosystem conservation programme.

Foundation stone laid for museum at VNF Headquarters
In a significant development aimed at preserving the rich history and heritage of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force, a foundation stone was laid for a new museum at the Volunteer Naval Force Headquarters in Welisara on 10th June 2024. The museum would house historical photographs and memorabilia of the Volunteer Naval Force, related to significant moments and events from its inception to the present day. The ceremony was presided by the Commandant Volunteer Naval Force, Rear Admiral Lashanth N Hewavitharane.

Logistics Conference - 2024 and Certificate Awarding of LLMC No. 8 conclude in Trincomalee
The Logistics Conference - 2024 and Certificate Awarding of Long Logistics Management Course (LLMC) No.8 were held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 08th and 09th June 2024. At the invitation of Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Rohan Joseph the Logistics Conference was graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest. Professor Nelis Perera, who specializes in Supply Chain Management at the University of Moratuwa, delivered the keynote address at the conference.

Commander of the Navy presides over 25th anniversary of Diving School
The Sri Lanka Navy's Diving School celebrated its 25th anniversary with a commemorative event held at the Diving Training School in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, on 08th June, 2024. The event was graced by Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Commander of the Navy. The Diving School, a vital training institution for navy divers, was originally established on 10th June 1999.
