In a significant stride towards environmental conservation and in view of its forthcoming 75th anniversary (09 December), the Sri Lanka Navy has launched a number of eco-friendly initiatives. The tree planting campaign of these initiatives was inaugurated at the Galle Face on 25 Oct 25, under the distinguished patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

The General Certificate Awarding Ceremony of 37th Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC) and 23rd Sub Lieutenant Technical Course (Provost/ Infantry) was held at the Auditorium of the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, on 23 Oct 25. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of the Commandant NMA, Commodore Dinesh Bandara.

The 10th edition of the ‘Trinco Dialogue Maritime Symposium 2025’drew to a successful conclusion on 22 Oct 25 at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium, Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee. The event was graced by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera, as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of the Commandant Naval and Maritime Academy, Commodore Dinesh Bandara.

The Sri Lanka Navy organized a Basic First Aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Water Safety Training Programme for students of the Ocean University of Sri Lanka, Trincomalee Regional Centre on 16 Oct 25.

In an official visit to the Navy Headquarters in Colombo, a delegation of the Australian National Defence College's Defence and Strategic Studies Course (DSSC), led by Colonel Brandon Wood, called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda on 21 Oct 25.

The Ambassador of Thailand to Sri Lanka, H.E. Paitoon Mahapannaporn met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters on 21 Oct 25.

Three (03) new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, were officially opened on 14, 17 and 18 Oct 25 at Morawewa North Sinhala Vidyalaya in Trincomalee, Diwulwewa Vidyalaya, Nachchaduwa in Anuradhapura and in the village of Pesalei in Mannar.

An awareness programme on early detection and prevention of breast cancer was held at the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee, on 14 Oct 25. The programme was jointly organized by the Eastern Naval Command Hospital and the Office of the Medical Officer of Health, Trincomalee.

Commodore Dhanesh Pathberiya, appointed as the Flag Officer Commanding Naval Fleet, (FOCNF), assumed duties at the office of FOCNF in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 14 Oct 25.

In a significant national initiative under the "Clean Sri Lanka" programme, the Sri Lanka Navy, at the directives of the Ministry of Defence, contributed to an ecosystem enrichment programme for wild elephants. The three-day event took place from 10 to 12 Oct 25 in the Tabbowa Reservoir area.
