Sixteen (16) Midshipmen and thirteen (13) Service Entry candidates commissioned at Naval and Maritime Academy, Trincomalee
A total of 16 Midshipmen from the 38th (Legal) and 39th intakes of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), along with 13 Service Entry candidates, were commissioned on 28th December 2024 at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the event was graced by the Defence Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd), as the Chief Guest.

A group of senior officers including Rear Admiral YING Hongbo and Rear Admiral HE Yongming from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy hospital ship ‘Peace Ark’ called on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (23rd December 2024).

12th Indian Navy – Sri Lanka Navy Staff Talks concludes in New Delhi
12th Navy to Navy Staff Talks between Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy came to a successful end in New Delhi, India on 20th December 2024. The three-day event, which began on 18th December, aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two neighboring navies.

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy hospital ship ‘Peace Ark’ arrived in Colombo on a formal visit on 21st December 2024. The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Navy conveys festive greetings through Christmas Carols at Wave n’ Lake Navy Hall
The Sri Lanka Navy Christian Council, in collaboration with the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and the Navy Band, hosted the Navy Christmas Carols 2024 at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall in Welisara on 21st December 2024. Themed "Decked in Navy Blue and Red, Merry Christmas from the Seas to the Shore," the event was a vibrant celebration of the festive season. Graced by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the event saw the participation of distinguished guests, including the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Mala Lamahewa.

Knife Throwing sport introduced to the Navy
The Sri Lanka Navy introduced the sport of knife throwing to its sports programme through a groundbreaking three-day workshop held at the Welisara Naval Complex from 12th to 14th December 2024. The event was organized in collaboration with the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka.
