Rear Admiral Indika De Silva, who was appointed as Commander North Central Naval Area, assumed duties at the Command Headquarters today (09 Apr 25).

The Naval Research Wing turned up the volume on public speaking and honed the analytical skills of naval officers with a Speech Craft Workshop. Organized at the Wave n’ Lake Naval Banquet Hall on 28 Mar 25, the conduct of the event was facilitated by Kelaniya Toastmasters Club.

A comprehensive three-day training programme aimed at empowering civilian readiness for disaster relief operations was successfully conducted from 05 to 07 Apr 25 in the Southeastern Naval Command. Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) BUNGO and ETAJIMA which arrived in Sri Lanka on a goodwill visit on 01 Apr 25, departed the island 04 Apr. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ships at the Port of Colombo, following naval traditions.

A delegation led by Mr. Gabrielle Ivan from U.S. Navy’s Meteorological and Oceanographic Command (NMOC) and Mr. David Lee from U.S. Defence Institute of International Legal Studies (DIILS) met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters on 02 Apr 25.
