As an extension of sterilization programmes carried out by Navy to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus in the country, Zahira College premises in Puttalam was disinfected, today (30^th March 2020).

The Sri Lanka Navy launched a programme to distribute dry rations among several families in areas belonging to the Southeastern Naval Command.

In support of the Sri Lanka Navy’s contribution to contain the spread of novel coronavirus within the country, the Lalan Rubbers (Pvt) Ltd. handed over 20,000 latex gloves to Sri Lanka Navy at the Naval Headquarters today (30^th March 2020).

During a search operation conducted in the seas off Uduththurei in Jaffna today (29th March 2020), the Navy apprehended a person attempting to smuggle a stock of Kerala cannabis by sea.

In view of the looming threat of COVID-19 pandemic, Sri Lanka Navy shouldering the national responsibility has swiftly set up 02 quarantine centres at the naval establishment SLNS Buwaneka in Mulankavil, Mannar and Oluvil harbour premises on 28^th March 2020, for persons suspected of COVID-19 infection.

As a measure of controlling the spreading of new coronavirus in the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducted a sterilization programme at Court Complex premises in Galle, today (29^th March 2020).

After being notified by the Trincomalee Police, the Navy today (29^th March 2020) brought ashore a fisherman who closely associated with a person infected with the new coronavirus and had gone for fishing practices.
