In a significant acknowledgment of its magnanimous efforts, the Sri Lanka Navy's role in supporting thalassemia patients was felicitated by the Ministry of Health at its auditorium today (29th July 2024). The Navy is into their innovative approach in producing low-cost thalassemia infusion systems for the support of thalassemia patients. The felicitation ceremony, which was graced by the Minister of Industries and Minister of Health, Hon. (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana, was attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera opened the newly renovated Naval pilgrim house of St. Anne’s Shrine Thalawila in Kalpitiya on 25th July 2024. This particular pilgrim house is allocated to both serving and retired officers and sailors who come to pay homage to the St. Anne’s Shrine Thalawila. The renovation work was carried out utilizing funds made possible by the Sri Lanka Navy Christian Council as well as manpower and industrial expertise enabled by the Navy.

USS Michael Murphy of the United States Navy which arrived at the port of Colombo on 23rd July 2024 departed the island on successful completion of its formal visit today (26th July).

The cluster meeting of Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) which got underway at the Kingsbury Colombo, came to a successful end today (25th July 2024) following a visit in Colombo.

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera declared open the “Sanghawasa” building of Ilangamgoda Purana Raja Maha Viharaya in Sapugoda, Kamburupitiya today (24th July 2024). The Sri Lanka Navy enabled its industrial expertise and manpower for the construction of this “Sanghawasa” building.

The 48th edition of ‘Sayurusara’ magazine published by the Directorate of Naval Media was presented to the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera by the Chief Editor of the magazine, Commander (VNF) SR Sudusinghe at the Navy Headquarters today (23rd July 2024).
