Authorities have declared certain districts in the island as high risk areas for the spread of new coronavirus. Stepping in to provide some respite to the people confined at apartments under self-quarantine in Colombo district, the Navy on 05^th April 2020 commenced several musical programmes in a bid to lift their spirits.

After having revealed that three (03) inmates at Naval Quarantine Centre in Oluvil were tested positive for COVID-19, the Navy promptly rushed them for treatment on 18^th April 2020.

The Navy made arrangements to send six (06) people living in Grandpass, Kotahena, Maligawatta and Punchi Borella areas, to quarantine today (16^th April 2020). This early action was taken in light of these persons had associated with a COVID-19 infected individual.

Sri Lanka Navy seized a lorry which was transporting a stock of agro-chemicals with essential food items, at the naval roadblock at Poonewa in Medawachchiya on 18^th April 2020.

Nine (09) more individuals who completed their quarantine period at the quarantine centre established at Boossa Naval Base, left for their homes today (18^th April 2020).

The Navy apprehended 04 persons who were engaging in illegal fishing without a valid permit, in the seas off Trincomalee harbour on 17^th April 2020.

The Navy apprehended a person for illegal selling of liquor, during a coordinated search conducted with the Police in Kalmunai area on 17^th April 2020.

The Navy apprehended 03 suspects in possession of cannabis and heroin, during a coordinated search conducted at the roadblock of Yan Oya, Pulmoddai on 16^th April 2020.

The prevailing situation in the country has greatly hampered the monthly receipt of medication of retired and serving naval personnel as well as their family members who are receiving long-term treatment from naval hospitals.

In its continuous efforts to control the spread of new coronavirus within the country, the Navy conducted several disinfection programmes at Colombo Dockyard, entrances of Colombo harbour, Warakapola Base Hospital and Zahira College Puttalam on 12^th and 16^th April 2020.
