Twenty one (21) Navy officers successfully complete Course No 18 of Defence Services Command and Staff College

The graduation ceremony of Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC), Sapugaskanda Course No 18 was held at Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre on 12th December 2024. The event, honored by the presence of the Hon. Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd), as the Chief Guest, also saw the attendance of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, who represented the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera.

SLNS Sayura departs for SLINEX – 2024

The Sri Lanka-India Naval Exercise (SLINEX) is set to take place in Visakhapatnam, India, from 17th to 20th December 2024. On 12th December, SLNS Sayura departed from Hambantota International Port to participate in this significant bilateral exercise.

Six new RO plants boost access to safe drinking water in Anuradhapura

The Navy's Research and Development Unit, in collaboration with the Naval Social Responsibility Project and funded by the Presidential Secretariat, is spearheading the installation of 31 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in the Anuradhapura district. As part of this initiative, 06 new RO plants were inaugurated on 11th December 2024, serving Udugama, Kolaniya, Kuda Kekirawa, Kasagala Purana Raja Maha Viharaya, Ihala Puliyankulam in the Kekirawa Divisional Secretariat, and Hapadiyagama and Thilakapura in the Ipalogama Divisional Secretariat.

Navy’s sporting legacy glows bright at Colours Awarding Ceremony – 2024

The highly anticipated Navy Colours Awarding Ceremony 2024, organized by the Sri Lanka Navy Sports Board, unfolded with grandeur at the Wave n’ Lake Navy Hall in Welisara on 11th December 2024. The vibrant ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Commander of the Navy and President of the Navy Sports Board, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, as the Chief Guest. During the event, 326 exceptional sportsmen and women, who represented the Navy, were recognized for their outstanding achievements across 35 out of 42 sports disciplines at Naval Command, Defence Services, as well as national and international levels, for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023.

1062nd RO plant built by Navy declared open in Urumalai

The Sri Lanka Navy inaugurated its 1062nd Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant as part of its Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project on 11th December 2024. The opening ceremony at St. Lawrence's Church in Urumalai, Talaimannar, was presided over by Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara.

A powerful message on AIDS awareness delivered via street drama at Naval Dockyard

The Navy facilitated the conduct of a street drama, staged at the Naval Dockyard premises, on 06th December 2024. This creative and interactive initiative aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS while fostering understanding and compassion within the naval personnel and their family members. HIV poses a major threat to global public health, affecting communities worldwide. To raise awareness about the AIDS pandemic caused by this virus, the United Nations observes 01st December each year as World AIDS Day.

05 new RO plants declared open for community use in Anuradhapura

The Navy's Research and Development Unit, in partnership with the Naval Social Responsibility Project and funded by the Presidential Secretariat, is leading a project to install 31 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants across the Anuradhapura district. On 10th December 2024, 05 more RO plants were inaugurated at Kaduruwewa and Kalesiyambalawa in Thalawa Divisional Secretariat and Kudabiliwewa, Kithsiri and Gangasiripura in Thambuththegama Divisional Secretariat, as an extension of this project.

The Sri Lanka Navy organized an Aloka Puja to illuminate the Sandahiru Seya premises, to invoke blessings on the occasion of 74th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy on 09th December 2024. The event was presided by Deputy Area Commander North Central Naval Area, Commodore Mangala Mummullage.
