Disinfection chambers built by the Navy’s Research and Development Unit under Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project were set up at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital – Kalubowila, Neville Fernando Teaching Hospital and University Hospital KDU on 02^nd April 2020.

Few more disinfection programmes were conducted by Sri Lanka Navy in order to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country, during 1^st to 2^nd April 2020, at Puttalam Base Hospital, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, People’s Bank premises in Narahenpita and Kirulapana and Zahira College-Puttalam.

Three (03) persons with Kerala cannabis and heroin were apprehend during two search operations carried out by Navy in coordination with SL Police, at Mullikulam area and at Karamba area in Puttalam, on 2^nd April 2020.

Extending their coorperation to the Navy’s quarantine programme to control the spread of coronavirus in the country, Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. donated a stock of healthcare equipment to the SL Navy, at the Naval Headquarters, today (02^nd April 2020).

Sri Lanka Navy commenced to put up a location for examining blood and saliva of suspected persons to coronavirus affection and installing a CCTV system at the ward for the suspected pregnant mothers to coronavirus affection, in Nevil Fernando hospital, today (02^nd April 2020).

A blood donation campaign jointly organized by Naval Deployment – Hambantota and Blood Transfusion Unit of the District General Hospital Hambantota was held with the participation of naval personnel at the hospital premises on 01^st April 2020.

Navy apprehended two (02) persons with explosive used for illegal fishing, during a patrol carried out in Kuchchaweli area on 01^st April 2020.

The first group who had undergone quarantine period in the quarantine centre established by Navy at Boosa Naval Base, left the center after successful completion of their quarantine process, on 01^st April 2020.

As a result of the outbreak of COVID – 19, retired naval personnel, their spouses and family members of naval personnel and civil staff employees who receive treatment from the clinics of Navy General Hospital (Colombo) are facing numerous hardships as of now.

In order to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country, Sri Lanka Navy conducted number of disinfection programmes at Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, Colombo North Teaching Hospital-Ragama, District Secretariat-Galle, Central Bank and Dedicated Economic Center -Meegoda during the period from 30^th March to 01st April 2020.
