The Navy, in preparation for hazards and disasters likely to take place as a result of the inclement weather in the island, sent out its relief teams to pre identified hazard prone areas today (16^th May 2020).

A sum of five hundred thousand rupees (Rs.500000/-) was donated by Sri Lanka Naval Association to the Navy to be used for the campaigns being carried out by the Navy in the effort of suppressing coronavirus, at the Naval Headquarters, on 15^th May 2020.

Another twenty six (26) naval personnel infected with coronavirus and underwent treatment in hospitals, were discharged from the hospitals being tested negative to COVID-19, on 15^th May 2020.

Nineteen (19) inmates who were undergoing quarantine period in Oluvil Naval quarantine center, left the center after completion of their quarantine process, today (15^th May 2020).

Sri Lanka Navy on 13^th and 14^th May 2020 took steps to remove the saltwater barrier that had been erected in the Ambatale area across the Kelani River, to protect people from the floods that were likely to occur with the onset of heavy rains.

With completion of their quarantine process two hundred and twenty three (162) family members of naval personnel who belong to 35 families left the quarantine centers, on 14^th May 2020.

Another 30 (30) naval personnel infected with coronavirus and underwent treatment in hospitals, were discharged from the hospitals being tested negative to COVID-19, on 14^th May 2020.

Handing over the cheques of interest free loan facility valued Five Hundred Thousand rupees (Rs.500,000/=) for hundred and fifty (150) Senior Sailors of Sri Lanka Navy were carried out from 11^th to 14^th May 2020. These cheques were handed over at the Naval bases where these senior sailors are serving and at their residencies for the senior sailors who are on leave prior to retirement.

The ‘Udekki Beach Resort’ in Kalpitiya was formally handed over to the Sri Lanka Navy on 13^th May 2020 to be used as a provision for welfare facilities, in line with the Navy’s mission to suppress COVID-19. The arrangements for the delivery of this facility were made by the brother of late Lieutenant Commander Cedric Martenstyn, in memory of his beloved brother. Late Lieutenant Commander Cedric Martenstyn, who laid down his life for the territorial integrity of the motherland, rendered a noble service as a Commanding Officer of the Navy’s Special Boat Squadron.

Another fifty nine (59) naval personnel infected with coronavirus and underwent treatment in hospitals, were discharged from the hospitals being tested negative to COVID-19, on 13^th May 2020.
