The Navy conducted an awareness programme on 09 Sep 25, aimed at shedding light on the pressing fishing related issues in the Northern Province. The event was presided over by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage along with officers from security forces and local fishing community.

Sri Lanka Navy joins forces with partners in Pacific Angel 2025

In a significant demonstration of regional security cooperation, the Sri Lanka Navy participated in a Search and Rescue Open Water Operation exercise off the coast of Marawila on 09 Sep 25. The drill was a key component of the broader Pacific Angel – 2025 exercise, a multilateral initiative led by the Sri Lanka Air Force in partnership with US Pacific Forces, Royal Australian Air Force, Japan Air Self Defence Force, Maldivian National Defence Force, Bangladesh Air Force, Indian Air Force and Sri Lanka Army.

Navy revamps Fast Attack Craft with indigenously designed steering control system

The Electrical and Electronic Design Centre (ENDC) of the Sri Lanka Navy celebrated a significant milestone in its pursuit of self-reliance and technological innovation with the ceremonial launch of indigenously designed Naval Steering Control (NSC) system onboard Fast Attack Craft P421. The event was graced by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ravindra Tissera at the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee on 25 Aug 25.

Six months of grit and skill: RABS Course-29 concludes with insignia pinning by Navy Commander

A ceremonial insignia pinning was held on 06 Sep 25 at the Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Headquarters in Gangewadiya, Puttalam, to recognize 3 officers and 34 sailors upon their successful completion of the six-month RABS Qualifying Course-29. At the invitation of the Commanding Officer RABS, Captain Sudesh Chinthaka and Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Varuna Ferdinandusz, the ceremony was presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

Navy Commander leads the Task Force for drug free country

The Presidential Task Force to Combat the Use of Poisonous and Dangerous Drugs convened at Navy Headquarters on 03 Sep 25, adopting a strategic-level approach to formulate a comprehensive national campaign aimed at eradicating drug menace from the country. The meeting was presided over by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, in his capacity as Chairman of the Task Force.
