The High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Sri Lanka, H.E. Major General Faheem-Ul-Aziz (Retd) met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Navy Headquarters today (11 Mar 25).

Another set of Line-Throwing Adapter Kits for T56 SMG, improvised by Sri Lanka Navy’s Research and Development Unit (RDU), were officially handed over to SLNS Sayura and SLNS Shakthi in a ceremony presided over by the Commander Eastern Naval Area on 04 Mar 25.

In continuation of its commitment to community, the Sri Lanka Navy undertook a clean-up drive at Thirumurikandy Hindu Vidyalaya, Mullaitivu on 04 Mar 25. As part of the "Clean Sri Lanka" campaign, a nationwide programme is underway to create an educational environment that promotes national values, integrates social principles, and emphasizes environmental sustainability, centered on the theme, "A School Full of Happiness."

The annual feast at St. Antony's Shrine on Kachchativu Island is set to take place on 14 and 15 Mar 25. As of now, the Sri Lankan Navy has deployed its craft to transport essential supplies continuously to the island via sea routes. Additionally, preparations for the necessary infrastructure to ensure the smooth execution of the church festival are nearing completion.

Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) achieved a remarkable feat on 09 Mar 25 by qualifying to establish 02 Guinness World Records for continuous walking on a manual treadmill over a 24-hour period.

In celebration of International Women's Day, a special Women's Day programme was held on 08 Mar 25 at the Wave N' Lake Navy Hall in Welisara, under the patronage of the Chairperson of Ministry of Defence Seva Vanitha Unit, Dr. Ruvini Rasika Perera. The programme, organized at the directives of the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, was dedicated to lady officers, women sailors, and spouses of naval personnel. The colourful event was also dignified by the presence of the Commander of the Navy.

In continuation of its commitment to community, the Sri Lanka Navy undertook a clean-up programme at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School, Talaimannar on 08 Mar 25. The programme was conducted as part of the nationwide initiative to renovate schools under the “Clean Sri Lanka” project.

Showing its commitment to community service and environmental stewardship, the Sri Lanka Navy initiated several programmes to transform iconic beaches and tourist destinations in the Southern Naval Command. The initiatives, conducted on 01 and 08 Mar 25, were part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” campaign, specifically under its “A Beautiful Beach - An Attractive Tourist Destination” project.

The Sri Lanka Navy stepped forward to provide crucial diving assistance to restore the functionality of the left bank sluice gate at the Rajanganaya Reservoir from 05 to 07 Mar 25.

On the sidelines of the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ campaign, the Sri Lanka Navy took the lead in a mangrove planting initiative at the pristine shores of Nilaveli on 08 Mar 25. The project, which focused on mangrove restoration and beach conservation to preserve the marine ecological system, was organized by the Eastern Naval Command.
