In a demonstration of civic responsibility and community solidarity, personnel from the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) spearheaded a successful environmental initiative at the Ragama Railway Station on 22 Sep 25.

The Sri Lanka Navy's long-standing mission to provide safe drinking water nationwide reached a new milestone, as the Navy inaugurated its 1,130th Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant. Incidentally, a cluster of five (05) new plants was officially opened in the Kurunegala District from 17 to 19 Sep 25.

The Regional Director of the Canada Border Services Agency of the High Commission of Canada in Sri Lanka, Mr. Joshua Newby, paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, at the Navy Headquarters on 23 Sep 25.

Rear Admiral YN Jayarathna (Retd) served as the moderator of the final panel discussion of the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference 2025, held on 25 Sep 25. The session, themed ‘Contemporary Challenges for Small Island States Amidst a Changing World Order: Way Forward’, provided valuable insights into the pressing issues confronting small island nations.

The fourth session of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference was conducted under the theme “Maritime Sustainability under Changing Dynamics”. The session was moderated by Dr. David Brewster from the Australian National University.

The third session of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference was conducted under the theme “Maritime Economy under Changing Dynamics.” The session was steered by Dr. Ganeshan Wignaraja, Visiting Senior Fellow at ODI Global, London, and former Executive Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Think Tank, Sri Lanka.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) SATPURA which called at the Port of Colombo for replenishment, departed the island on 24 Sep 25. In keeping with time-honoured naval traditions, the Sri Lanka Navy extended a customary farewell to the departing vessel at the Port of Colombo.

The session was moderated by Prof. Quentin Hanich, Fisheries Governance Programme at Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS).

The first session of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference, was held under the theme “Marine Environment under Changing Dynamics”. The session was moderated by Prof. Ronán Long, Director World Maritime University -Sasakawa Global Ocean Institute.

The 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference commenced on 24 Sep 25 at the Wave n' Lake Navy Hall in Welisara, marking a gathering of global maritime expertise. Organized by the Sri Lanka Navy under the patronage of the Ministry of Defence, the event drew participation from 37 nations and international organizations. The opening day of the conference concluded on a successful note, featuring discussions spread across three sessions, including a Plenary Session, under the theme of ‘Maritime Outlook of the Indian Ocean under Changing Dynamics’.
