Navy’s 75th anniversary events get underway with health clinic organized by Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine in Pesalai
The Sri Lanka Navy has commenced a series of commemorative events to celebrate its 75th anniversary, which falls on 09 Dec 25. The series of programmes commenced with a mobile medical and dental clinic organized by the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) in collaboration with the Navy’s Medical and Dental Directorates in Pesalai, Mannar today (05 Oct 25).

USS FITZGERALD departs island
USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) of the United States Navy which arrived in Colombo for replenishment purpose, departed the island on 04 Oct 25 and the Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the Port of Colombo, following naval traditions.

Navy enters into agreement to facilitate Onboard Security Teams
The Sri Lanka Navy entered into an agreement with a local representative of two (02) foreign Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs), at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo on 03 Oct 25. The agreement enables the storage and transportation of firearms, ammunition and related equipment under Navy supervision and protection, with logistical support provided by the respective local representatives.

USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) of the United States Navy arrived at the port of Colombo on replenishment purposes this morning 03 Oct 25. The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ship in compliance with naval traditions.

VNF marks end of Annual Training Camp with inspection of divisions
Marking the conclusion of its Annual Training Camp, the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Headquarters held the ceremonial inspection of divisions on 02 Oct 25. The event was graced by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando as the Chief Guest, at the invitation of the Commandant VNF, Rear Admiral HNS Perera and Commanding Officer VNF, Commander Anura Karunarathna.

Turning the tide on water scarcity, Navy sets up two RO plants in Matale and Anuradhapura
Two new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, were officially opened on 20 Sep 25 at Vilgamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha in Matale and Sri Sambuddha Maithri Viharaya in Oyamaduwa, Anuradhapura.

Galle Dialogue - 2025 concludes on an inspiring note and meaningful exchanges
The 12th edition of the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference 2025, organized by the Sri Lanka Navy under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence, successfully concluded on 25 September 2025. Convened under the theme “Maritime Outlook of the Indian Ocean under Changing Dynamics”, the conference provided a platform for informed discussions on a wide spectrum of maritime issues of regional and global relevance.

Foreign delegates commend Sri Lanka Navy’s role in fostering regional maritime cooperation at 12th Galle Dialogue
On the sidelines of the 12th Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, engaged in bilateral discussions with key maritime stakeholders, including visiting Navy Chiefs. The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on strategically important matters pertaining to maritime security in the Indian Ocean region. During these interactions, foreign delegates particularly commended the Sri Lanka Navy’s steadfast commitment to strengthening regional maritime cooperation.
