The new library building erected utilizing manpower enabled by the Navy at Paragoda Sri Gunarathna Primary School, Imaduwa was declared open for school children on 25th February 2021. The opening of the new facility was presided over by Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera.

44 nursing students pledges for committed profession completing their course of study

The capping ceremony and pledging of allegiance to the service by 44 Naval and Air Force nursing students who studied at Naval Nurses’ Training School, SLNS Thakshila was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, SLNS Parakrama today (25th February 2021). This batch of nursing students from both Navy and Air Force was enlisted in the year 2019 to the Naval Nurses’ Training School which is accredited to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).

Navy turns up with assistance for hospitals as minor staffers on strike

Following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Sri Lanka Navy sent out naval personnel including Medical Assistants to several hospitals to avoid any inconvenience to the public due to the strike staged by a section of minor staffers at hospitals.

Navy-built 821st RO plant vested with public at Umandawa Maha Vihara Monastery, Melsiripura

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne declared open the navy-installed 821st Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at Umandawa Maha Vihara Monastery in Melsiripura today (24th February 2021). Erected by the initiatives of Ministry of Healthcare, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine as well as manpower and technological expertise extended by Sri Lanka Navy, the project materialized as yet another Naval Social Responsibility drive.

Navy produces first-ever seawater RO plant for fleet units

Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Senarath Wijesooriya declared open a seawater RO plant onboard Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Jayasagara today (24th February 2021). This RO unit designed and installed by Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) project goes down in records as the first of its kind produced for naval fleet units.

Navy clears blockage under Wakwella bridge, Galle

The Navy is constantly contributing to clear obstructions under the narrow Wakwella bridge over Gin Ganga, which flows into the ocean from Gintota. Incidentally, the Navy was pressed into action once again to remove debris collected under the Wakwella bridge on 20th February 2021.

Commander of the Navy attends special reception dinner hosted for dependent Army war veterans at ‘Mihindu Seth Medura’

A special reception dinner hosted by the Seva Vanitha Unit of Ministry of Defence for the dependent Army war veterans was held on 20th February 2021 at Mihindu Seth Medura’, the wellness resort run by Sri Lanka Army for the welfare of dependent Army war veterans. The event which was held under the patronage of Secretary of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne and Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence, Mrs. Chithrani Gunaratne was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne and President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne.
