The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, His Excellency Gopal Baglay formally handed over several training aids, provided by the Indian Navy, to the Naval & Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee, on 14th March 2021.

In continuation of Sri Lanka Navy’s mangrove reforestation drive, the Northern Naval Command with the attendance of its Area Commander, Rear Admiral Senarath Wijesooriya, launched a worthy campaign in which 700 mangrove saplings were planted in the Ponnalai Lagoon today (14th March 2021).

Making a visit to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on 10th March 2021, Defence Secretary, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne launched a specially designed logo to signify the upcoming 40th KDU Anniversary. During the visit, he also declared open several navy-constructed facilities at KDU, with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

On successful completion of Rapid Action Boat Squadron (RABS) Qualifying Course-25, one (1) officer and thirty six (36) sailors were bestowed with insignia at the parade ground of RABS Headquarters in Gagewadiya, Puttalm on 10th March 2021. The event was held under the patronage of Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral SB Senarathne at the invitation of Commanding Officer RABS, Commander Sagara Udayanga.

On the sidelines of International Women's Day (08^th March), Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) organized a celebratory event to mark this special day on high note. The event which was held under the auspices of the Chairperson of Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chithrani Gunaratne at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium on 08^th March 2021 was dignified by the presence of NSVU President, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

Defence Secretary, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne, along with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, visited ‘Sandahiru Seya’ in Anuradhapura and ‘Mihindu Maha Seya’ in Mihinthale to inspect the on-going construction and renovation work of respective stupas on 06^th March 2021.

Sri Lanka Navy partnered with the Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force to take part in an air observer training exercise on a Dornier aircraft of the Indian Navy, conducted in the southern coast from 02^nd to 05^th March 2021.

This year’s International Women's Day which is falling on 08th March is centered on the theme ‘Choose to Challenge’. On the sidelines of this international event, Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU) has organized a celebratory event and launching of the magazine ‘Sinduliya’, under the auspices of Chairperson of Defence Ministry's Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chithrani Gunaratne at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium on 08^th March 2021.

The Chief of the Air Staff of Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria who is now in the island on an official visit, met with Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (04th March 2021).

Reaffirmed strongly with the necessity of the continuation of National Security Adviser (NSA)-level meeting between India, Sri Lanka and Maldives, a secretariat for trilateral National Security Advisers on Maritime Security Cooperation was formed under the auspices of Secretary of Defence, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne at the Navy Headquarters today (01^st March 2021).
