Financial assistance for funeral of retired naval personnel introduced

Sri Lanka Navy introduced a programme to provide a funeral assistance worth Rs. 100,000, to the next of kin of retired naval personnel at their funeral. The initiative was launched by the Navy, with a view to further expand the welfare provisions catered to the retired naval personnel who have served in the Regular and Volunteer Forces of Sri Lanka Navy.

Navy – made 350 thalassemia infusion systems handed over to Ministry of Health

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne handed over three hundred and fifty (350) thalassemia infusion systems, produced by Sri Lanka Navy Thalassemia Infusion System Project operating under Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) initiatives, to the Ministry of Health, at the Navy Headquarters today (21st April 2021).

Naval Social Responsibility project develops 08 underprivileged schools across the country

In connection with the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy, the sea going arm of the country has launched another social responsibility initiative, under the directives and guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, to develop selected underprivileged schools in the country, in year 2021. The prime motive of the project is to create a more conducive learning environment for the children - the future generation of the country. Accordingly, this timely project was launched in the Western, Eastern, North Central, Northwestern, Southeastern, Southern and Northern Naval Commands on 19th April 2021. Financial contribution extended voluntarily by all officers and sailors from their monthly salaries is utilized for the project, while the Navy also enables its able manpower required for the construction work.

Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service held at Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee

The Christian Commemoration and Thanksgiving Service organized in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Christ the King Chapel in Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee on 17th April 2021. The spiritual ceremony which was conducted by the clergy including the His Lordship Rt. Rev. Dr. Christian Noel Emmanuel, Bishop of Trincomalee was presided over by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

Navy-constructed Lankagama Nilwella Bridge vested with the public

The Navy-constructed Lankagama Nilwella Bridge was ceremonially declared open on 10th April 2021. The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of the Governor of Southern Province, Dr. Willy Gamage and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne. The new bridge connects the villages of Lankagama and Nilwella of Neluwa in the Southern Province.
