Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne today (21^st October 2021) visited 'Sanda Hiru Seya’ in the sacred city of Anuradhapura to review its ongoing construction work.

The occasion to vest navy-improved facilities at Hulannuge Vidyalaya in Ampara with school children was held under the patronage of Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Gamage on 18th October 2021.

Sixty seven (67) regular and volunteer women recruits, trained at SLNS Nipuna in Boossa, Galle, belong to the 242nd intake of the Sri Lanka Navy passed out in dignified sequence, after successful completion of their basic training, at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna in Boossa, Galle on 18th October 2021.

An Indian National Defence College (NDC) delegation, currently in Sri Lanka as part of their curriculum, called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters on18th October 2021. The delegation was led by Major General Hari B Pillai from the directing staff of the Indian National Defence College.

The final phase of the 5000 mangrove sapling planting programme, in lagoon areas of the Jaffna Peninsula, worked off at the Ponnale lagoon on 17th October 2021, under the patronage of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera.

Defence Secretary, General (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne laid the foundation stone for a proposed Pilgrims Hall (Vishrama Shala) at the Deeghawapi Raja Maha Viharaya on 15th October 2021. Sri Lanka Navy is to enable skilled manpower for the construction of this new building, in line with the development plan of the historic Deeghawapi Raja Maha Vihara.

After completion of their basic training, three hundred and twenty four (324) regular and volunteer recruits and women recruits of the 242nd intake of the Sri Lanka Navy, passed out in a colourful ceremony held at the main parade ground of SLNS Shiksha, Poonewa today (16th October 2021).

A squadron of the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet which included the Corvette ‘Gremyashchy’ and submarines ‘B – 603’ and ‘B – 274’ arrived at the Colombo harbour today (16th October 2021). Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the visiting ships in precision with naval traditions as they arrived at the port of Colombo.

The Chief of the Army Staff of India, General Manoj Mukund Naravane who is currently on an official visit to Sri Lanka paid a courtesy call on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Navy Headquarters today (16th October 2021).

Upon necessary amendments as per the directives of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, the existing Sri Lanka Navy Orders (SLNOs) to which the Navy has adhered so long, were accredited and re-launched by the Commander of the Navy at the Navy Headquarters on 14th October 2021.
