Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ships named KAGA – a multi-purpose operation destroyer and destroyer MURASAME arrived at the port of Colombo on an official visit today (02nd October 2021). Upon their arrival, the visiting ships were welcomed by Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions.

The ceremonial decommissioning of Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) ‘Jayasagara’ took place under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 30th September 2021. The impressive event held in keeping with naval traditions was also attended by President Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne. Attached to the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) fleet, SLNS ‘Jayasagara’ rendered an invaluable service, by ensuring the maritime security of the island nation for nearly (04) four decades, as a maritime surveillance vessel.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne unveiled the newly-erected war monument at the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla (4 FAF) Headquarters in the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee today (30th September 2021). This War Monument will remain to be a symbol of the noble sacrifice of the fallen war veterans of the 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, the teeth-arm of Sri Lanka Navy fleet.

The COVID Relief Fund in Brisbane Australia provided 02 Multi Parameter Monitors to the Navy General Hospital – Welisara on 22nd September 2021. The 02 monitoring devices were received by Acting Director General Health Services, Surgeon Commodore PJB Marambe at the Navy Headquarters.

The certificate awarding ceremony of Counter Narcotics Boarding Officer Course and Advanced Boarding Officer Course was held at the Special Boat Squadron Headquarters in Trincomalee on 22nd September 2021. The event was graced by Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sanjeewa Dias, as the Chief Guest.

Commander North Central Naval Area, Rear Admiral Bandula Senarathna on 23rd September 2021 declared open the new jetty constructed for berthing of small craft at the Naval Detachment of Palleimunai, administered by SLNS Gajaba in the North Central Naval Command.
