A beach cleaning programme organized by the Navy was held at the Crow Island beach in Mattakkuliya on 24th July 2022.

The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility Project was declared open for community use at Maithreegama in Palugaswewa, Anuradhapura on 24th July 2022.

The awarding of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Management System certificate to the Naval Dockyard in Northern Naval Command was held at Fort Hammenhiel Resort Karainagar on 21st July 2022. The event was held under the patronage of Director General/ Chief Executive Officer of Standards Institution, Sri Lanka, Dr (Mrs) Siddika Senarathne and Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Aruna Thennakoon.

A ceremony to commemorate fallen war veterans was held under the auspices of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) and with the attendance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne was held at the War Hero Monument in the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee this morning (23rd July 2022). Recalling those brave souls of the nation, who made enormous sacrifices for the defence of the country, the Defence Secretary and Commander of the Navy paid floral tributes to them at the War Hero Monument.

The commissioning of Midshipmen of the 35th (Technical) and 36th intakes of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was held triumphantly at the Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Trincomalee on 22nd July 2022. The eventful ceremony marked the culmination of the basic training period of 36 Midshipmen who were groomed as prospective naval officers at KDU and NMA. At the invitation of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) graced the event as the Chief Guest and took the salute.

An official interaction among the Defense Attaché designate at the Embassy of United States in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony C. Nelson, the incumbent U.S. Defence Attaché, Lieutenant Colonel Travis Cox and Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne was held at the Navy Headquarters today (19th July 2022).

A copy of the 10th edition of the Sri Lanka Navy Journal published by the Naval Research Wing was presented to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by Head of Naval Research Wing, Captain Aruna Wijayawardana at the Navy Headquarters today (15th July 2022).

Rear Admiral Aruna Tennekoon today (12th July 2022) assumed office as Commander Northern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters.

Rear Admiral Anura Ekanayake was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy effective from 09th July 2022. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne handed over the letter of appointment to the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy and expressed his best wishes to him at the Navy Headquarters today (12th July 2022).
