Two players from the Sri Lanka Navy, namely Woman Leading Seaman, Deepika Abeykoon (WVS 66974) and Woman Able Seaman Hasitha Mendis (WV 76519) represented the victorious Sri Lanka team that went on to win the Asian Netball Championship title. In recognition of their stellar performances, which ultimately brought much glory to the Navy and the Nation, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne felicitated the players and advanced them to the next respective rates during a brief ceremony held in this regard at the Navy Headquarters today (15^th September 2022). In addition, the 02 players were also presented with cash rewards worth Rs. 250,000.00 each, motivating to bring out the best from the sportspersons in the Navy.

A workshop on “Coral Species Identification and Reef Restoration” intending to broaden the scope of Navy divers, was successfully held at the Command Diving & Salvage Unit (East) in Naval Dockyard Trincomalee and Sandy Bay on 13^th and 14^th September 2022.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne felicitated 19 naval personnel, who excelled in physical fitness tests, during a ceremony held in this regard at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium today (07th September 2022). In accordance with the Physical Fitness Policy of the Sri Lanka Navy, these nineteen (19) naval personnel were recognized from dedicated fitness tests held in August 2022. The achievers also received prizes, certificates and insignia during the ceremony presided by Commander of the Navy.

Three hundred and thirty four (334) recruits of the 246th intake of Sri Lanka Navy’s Regular and Volunteer Forces passed out in Boossa on 06^th September 2022, on successful completion of their basic training. The fascinating Passing out Parade (POP) was held at the main parade ground of SLNS Nipuna, keeping with time-honoured naval tradition.

The 78^th Anniversary celebration of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen’s Association (SLESA) was marked with the graceful presence of Defence Secretary, General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd) on 04^th September 2022. The impressive occasion held at Attidiya Eagles' Lakeside Banquet and Convention Hall was attended by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne.

A five - day workshop on Comprehensive Approaches to Building Maritime Domain Awareness capabilities in Sri Lanka commenced at the Light House Galley, Colombo on 05^th September 2022. The event, arranged by the Institute for Security Governance (ISG), got off the ground with the coordination of the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka.
