High Dependency Unit at Command Hospital (South) declared open

The opening of the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at the Command Hospital (South) in Boossa, Galle was held under the patronage of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne on 05th October 2022. The construction of this HDU was made possible by industrial expertise of the Sri Lanka Navy and aid provided by Donor Institutions and Charity Organizations.

A group of student officers of the Bangladesh Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) visited the Navy Headquarters on 03rd October 2022. The 43 - member delegation comprising tri-service student officers of the Bangladesh Defence Services Command and Staff College and members of the academic staff was led by Group Captain Amin Khan.

Offshore Patrol Vessel P 627 calls at Port Apra in Guam during her home bound journey

Sri Lanka Navy officially took delivery of the EX-United States Coast Guard Cutter, USCGC Douglas Munro, provided by the United States, on 26th October 2021. Subsequently, she was designated with the Pennant Number P 627 in SLN Fleet and underwent certain modernization equipped to suit the operational needs of the Sri Lanka Navy. The ship departed for Sri Lanka from the Port of Seattle, United States on 03rd September 2022.

SLNS Gajabahu open doors for children on their special day

Sri Lanka Navy on 02nd October 2022 organized a special programme for the children, on the occasion of the World Children's Day celebrations, marked in Sri Lanka annually on 01st October. The programme was held onboard SLNS Gajabahu, allowing an unprecedented experience for a group of children who took part in the event.

Newly constructed ‘Marine Pier’ declared open in Sampoor

Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularatne declared open a newly constructed jetty (Marine Pier) at SLNS Vidura on 26th September 2022. The new facility was put up with a view to expand berthing facilities for small craft which are often deployed in the sea area of Trincomalee South.

Navy women make SLN naval diving history by successfully completing first ever Basic Diving Module for women

The first of its kind Basic Diving Module arranged for the lady officers and women sailors of the Sri Lanka Navy concluded on a successful note in Trincomalee recently. The certificate awarding for 03 participants who successfully completed the module was held under the patronage of the Commandant of Naval and Maritime Academy (NMA), Commodore Damian Fernando at the Diving School in the Naval Dockyard Trincomalee on 24th September 2022.
