Navy empowers fishing community on lifesaving health & crisis preparedness

A comprehensive training programme aimed at empowering fishing community on lifesaving health and crisis preparedness was successfully conducted on 11 Apr 25 at the Valaichchenai Fishery Harbour. This training was organized in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, under the Government's 'Clean Sri Lanka' initiative, which focuses on community empowerment through education as part of its social pillar.

Thirty-four (34) nursing students embark on new journey

In a momentous and dignified ceremony, the 2024 intake of the Naval Nurses’ Training School, SLNS Thakshila, celebrated their Capping Ceremony at the Admiral Somathilake Dissanayake Auditorium, Navy Headquarters on 09 Apr 25. The occasion saw 34 nursing students from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force pledging of dedication to the service in a ceremony graced by the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando as the Chief Guest.

Navy’s RO plant quenches thirst of children at Alpitiya Maha Vidyalaya, Monaragala

In a significant step towards ensuring access to clean drinking water, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant was declared open at Alpitiya Maha Vidyalaya, Monaragala on 10 Apr 25. Driven by the Sri Lanka Navy's Research and Development Unit, this initiative has been a key component of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project and was supported by funding from the Sunshine Foundation for Good.
