A coconut planting campaign launched by Sri Lanka Navy was held at SLNS Uththara on15th January 2022 under the patronage of Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera.

The High Commissioner of Australia to Sri Lanka HE David Holly and a group of officials met with the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sanjeewa Dias at the Command Headquarters, on 13th January 2022.

Sri Lanka Navy commenced an inoculation drive to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to the general public at the Keththarama Maha Viharaya, Colombo and Nawaloka Ground, Welisara from this morning (14th January 2022). The Navy General Hospital - Welisara today (05th January 2022) received an ICU Ventilator and two Digital BP Monitors to augment its Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Operation Theater treatment. The items were symbolically handed over to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne by Commander (Retd) LPK Hewage at the Navy Headquarters.

Sri Lanka Navy formally handed over ex SLNS ‘Jayasagara’ (P 601) to Sri Lanka Coast Guard in a ceremony held at the Southern Naval Command on 03rd January 2022. Attached to the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) fleet, ‘Jayasagara’ rendered an invaluable service, by ensuring the maritime security of the island nation for nearly (04) four decades, as a maritime surveillance vessel.

Rear Admiral Senake Senavirathne assumed duties as Commandant Volunteer Naval Force at the Volunteer Naval Force (VNF) Headquarters on 03rd January 2022.
