The Indian Naval Ship (INS) ‘Delhi’ arrived at the Port of Trincomalee on a formal visit this morning (15th January 2023). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena at the Prime Minister’s office today (13^th January 2023).

Rear Admiral Saman Perera assumed office as Commander Southern Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (13^th January 2023).

Rear Admiral Suresh De Silva assumed duties as Commander Western Naval Area at the Command Headquarters today (12^th January 2023).

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera on 11^th January 2023 graced the ‘Commandant’s Cup Sailing Regatta - 2023’ as the Chief Guest. During this visit, he also took time off to address a cross section of officers and sailors attached to the Eastern Naval Command at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in the Naval and Maritime Academy - Trincomalee.

The Defence Adviser at High Commission of India in Colombo, Captain Vikas Sood called on Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (09^th January 2023).

After having completed the 03rd lifesaving programme which was held under the patronage of the Navy, Sri Lanka Lifesaving Association and North Wind Project in Kareinagar, eight (08) youths in Jaffna were recognized on 06^th January 2023. The certificate awarding ceremony in this regard was held under the auspices of Deputy Area Commander Northern Naval Area, Commodore Priyal Vithanage at the Fort Hammenheil Resort.

At the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the Navy provided a thalassemia infusion system to a child suffering from inherited blood disorder. Accordingly, the donation was made by Commander Southern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Harindra Ekanayake to that child from Julampitiya in Meegasara, at the Malima reception Hall and Naval leave centre, Tangalle today (06^th January 2023). The infusion systems are produced by the Research and Development Unit of the Navy, as part of Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) initiatives.

The inter-ship / craft ROR, Rigging, Semaphore and Flashing Competition – 2022 organised by the Naval Fleet Command concluded successfully at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 05^th January 2023.

Sri Lanka Navy today (06^th January 2023) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Neville Ubayasiri who relinquished naval duties to which he was committed over the past 34 years.
