Navy and Coast Guard personnel honed in VBSS and Specialized Equipment tactics

The certificate awarding of the Regional Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) Course and the Use of Specialized Equipment training programme was hosted at the Special Boat Squadron (SBS) Headquarters in Trincomalee, on 06 Mar 26.

Designed to combat the growing threats of drug trafficking and diverse maritime crimes, these programmes are conducted under the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Since 2016, the Sri Lanka Navy has played a pivotal role in hosting and facilitating these sessions at the SBS Headquarters, positioning itself as a key training provider for maritime law enforcement officers in the region.

The latest iteration of this specialized training saw the participation of 05 officers and 11 sailors from both the Sri Lanka Navy and the Sri Lanka Coast Guard. Their successful completion of the course underscores the unwavering commitment of the both organisations to strengthening regional cooperation and fortifying maritime security.
