'Anchorage' unveils vital hydrotherapy facility in Welisara
A new Hydrotherapy Pool, constructed to provide essential therapeutic care for dependent naval war veterans at ‘Anchorage’, Naval Care Center, was officially inaugurated on 17 Dec 25. The event was held under the patronage of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.
The project was made possible through generous financial support led by Mr. Dinesh Weerakkody, the President of Buddhist Council Victoria, Australia, Ven. Phuoch Tag from Atisha Buddhist Centre, Bendigo, Brandix Apparel Pvt Ltd, Moose Clothing Company and the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by former Navy Commanders, Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne (Retd) and Admiral Priyantha Perera (Retd), alongside Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Damian Fernando, Deputy Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Ruwan Kalubowila, and Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagath Kumara. Senior officers from Naval Headquarters and the Western Naval Command, alongside the Chairmen of Brandix Apparel Pvt Ltd and Moose Clothing Company, were also present.
