Commander of the Navy shares strategic insights with Course No. 19 DSCSC course participants
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda delivered the customary address to the course participants of Course No. 19 of DSCSC, Sapugaskanda, on 08 Dec 25.
Upon his arrival, the Commander of the Navy was warmly received by the Commandant DSCSC, Major General Shantha Hewage and ushered him for the rest of the proceedings.
In his address to the course participants, the Commander of the Navy shed light on the "Sri Lanka Navy Strategic Plan 2030 and Beyond”. He framed this strategy as a transformative blueprint for the coming decade, essential for developing leadership, character, and strategic thinking.
The Commander detailed the Navy's mission as a committed regional partner, emphasizing cooperation with international maritime forces to address non-traditional threats beyond domestic waters.
Also, he provided a comprehensive analysis, outlining how the Navy and Coast Guard must modernize capabilities and manpower over the next decade as it is critical to safeguard freedom of navigation, promote the lawful use of the seas, and successfully manage future maritime challenges.
The occasion was also attended by the Chief Instructor (Army) at Defence Services Command & Staff College, Brigadier GDJC Premathilaka, Chief Instructor (Navy), Commodore DMNP Dissanayake, Chief Instructor (Air Force), Air Commodore NK Thanippuliarachchi, Brigadier Coordinating, Brigadier MSP Bandara, academic and directing staff as well as 149 course participants, including 26 officers from foreign nations.
Highlighting the significance of the occasion, the Commander of the Navy and the Commandant of DSCSC exchanged mementos, signifying the importance of the occasion.
