Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2025: Nation pauses to remember its brave

The main commemoration ceremony of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day – 2025 was held on 16 Nov 25 under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Hon. (Dr.) Harini Amarasuriya at the Cenotaph War Memorial of the Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo. The solemn occasion was also attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.‍

This annual commemoration serves to honour and remember all armed force personnel who have sacrificed their lives for the protection of the motherland from the period of the First World War to the present, and to recognize their noble cause.

The Navy held simultaneous commemorations across its Naval Commands as well. Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of Staff presided over the event at Navy Headquarters, and Area Commanders led ceremonies in respective Naval Areas, with the participation of naval personnel in a dignified sequence.
