Navy’s 75th anniversary events get underway with health clinic organized by Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine in Pesalai
The Sri Lanka Navy has commenced a series of commemorative events to celebrate its 75th anniversary, which falls on 09 Dec 25. The series of programmes commenced with a mobile medical and dental clinic organized by the Sri Lanka College of Military Medicine (SLCOMM) in collaboration with the Navy’s Medical and Dental Directorates in Pesalai, Mannar today (05 Oct 25).
Guided by the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, the initiative was further strengthened through the support of the Lions Club of Sri Jayewardenepura-Kotte. The programme provided a wide range of healthcare services including outpatient care, pediatric, eye, orthopedic, surgical, dental, ENT, dermatology and psychological clinics, along with reproductive health services and mobile blood testing facilities. Marking World Children’s Day, Venerable Rajawella Subhuthi Thero donated vital medical equipment to Pesalai Hospital, while school supplies were distributed to children in the area. Representatives of all sponsoring institutions and organizations also took part in the event.
As part of its 75th anniversary commemorations, the Navy has organized a series of multi-religious rituals to seek blessings for the entire naval family, honouring both serving personnel and veterans. Alongside these observances, the Navy continues to uphold its commitments through initiatives in environmental conservation and social welfare as well.
Highlighting another dimension of the anniversary, the Navy will host an International Fleet Review, with participation of foreign naval ships, off Galle Face. The event will be complemented by an international food festival, cultural exchanges, band show and parades in Colombo, showcasing naval cooperation while also promoting tourism.
