Navy imparts vital life support skills to fishing community

In a significant initiative to enhance safety and well-being at sea, the Sri Lanka Navy, in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, conducted a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training programme on 30 Aug 25 at Thawulpadu and South Bar Fisheries Harbours, Mannar.

The programme was organized by the North Central Naval Command Hospital as part of the Navy's ongoing social responsibility mission. The training focused on delivering first aid knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage medical emergencies while at sea. Furthermore, the programme emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare, covering topics such as combating non-communicable diseases, understanding the dangers of substance abuse, maintaining mental wellness and adopting sustained healthy practices.
