Navy assurance for pure and safe drinking water
A new Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, set up by the Sri Lanka Navy, was officially opened on 24 Aug 25 at the village of Ambagaswewa in Polpithigama, Kurunegala. Implemented under the Naval Social Responsibility initiative, the project was realized through the technical expertise of the Navy.
The facility, aimed at ensuring access to safe drinking water, becomes the 1,122nd RO plant established by the Navy across the island. This milestone underscores the Navy’s continued commitment to community welfare, extending its service beyond maritime security to address vital social needs.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Kelum Hewage, domiciled in Canada, providing financial support for this impactful initiative, and a group of his family members.
