Navy reaffirms spiritual commitment during St. Anne’s Shrine observances

The annual feast of St. Anne's National Shrine in Thalawila, Kalpitiya, was celebrated with great success on 03 Aug 25, drawing a large number of devotees. The special service was conducted by the Bishop of Chilaw, Rt. Rev. Don Wimal Sri Jayasooriya.

Maintaining the longstanding tradition, the Sri Lanka Navy renders assistance for the successful conduct of the proceedings of celebrations with security arrangements and lifesaving service.

The Sri Lanka Navy played a key role in the vibrant street procession of the statue of St. Anne, adding deep reverence and grandeur to this year’s annual feast. The Navy’s presence was especially prominent during the final evening Mass, with Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Damien Fernando, serving as President of the Navy Christian Council, and Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Varuna Ferdinandusz, joining a group of naval officers and sailors to mark the sacred occasion.

The Chief Priest of St. Anne's Shrine, Thalawila, along with devotees, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Commander of the Navy and naval personnel for their assistance in making the event a resounding success.
