Mobile dental clinics and awareness programmes by Navy bring smiles across regions
As part of its Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) initiative, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted a series of mobile dental clinics and oral health awareness programmes from 23 to 27 Jul 25 in the Southern Naval Command, spreading smiles and promoting better oral hygiene across multiple communities.
The initiative was held in celebration of World Oral Health Day, World Children’s Day, and the 75th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy. Under the guidance of the Commander Southern Naval Area and the Director Naval Dental Services the programmes aimed to deliver essential dental care services while educating the attendees on the importance of maintaining oral health. The initiative was further strengthened through valuable partnerships with the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and Unilever PLC.
These mobile dental clinics were set up at several key locations, including Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rohana, Kongala Abhaya Central College in Hakmana, Navajeewana Rehabilitation Centre in Tangalle, SLNS Kawantissa, and Naval Deployment Kirindi Oya.
The events successfully carried out with screening and treatments for a large group of naval personnel, their family members and school children, also giving them access to vital awareness in oral hygiene and quality dental care.
