Navy makes sportspersons aware on sports doping
The Sri Lanka Navy organized a special awareness programme on anti-doping measures for its sportspersons, instructors and coaches. The event, held on 01 Jul 25 at the Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayake Auditorium, was conducted in collaboration with experts from the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency and the Clean Sports Educator Nutrition Unit.
The programme, focused on ‘Creating a clean sports environment within the Sri Lanka Navy through proper nutritional practices free from the use of prohibited stimulants,’ aimed to educate Navy sportspersons on the dangers of doping and the importance of ethical sporting practices. Key areas covered during the session included; anti-doping regulations and violations, health risks of doping, proper use of medicines and supplements and guidance on practical nutrition methods.
The Director General Services, Rear Admiral Sujeewa Weerasuriya, Director Sports, Commodore Mangala Mummullage, the Assistant Director at Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency, Mr. Chamath Srinika, Mr. BPAV Batawala and Ms. MVAM Nimesha from Clean Sports Educator Nutrition Unit as well as officers and sailors were present on this occasion.
