Navy brings clean water to Mihintale: New RO plant inaugurated at Sri Saddharmawansha Vivekashramana Viharaya
Marking a significant step towards providing clean drinking water access, a new RO plant set up by the Sri Lanka Navy was declared open at Sri Saddharmawansha Vivekashramana Viharaya in Mihintale on 07 Jul 25.
The project falls under the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) programme, was initiated by the Ministry of Health with funding from the Presidential Secretariat, aiming the government's vision of ' A vigorous life - Healthy people’.
With the new installation, having a daily purification capacity of approximately 10,000 liters, the Naval Social Responsibility project has now completed 1,113 RO plants, expanding access to safe drinking water for local communities that previously lacked this essential service.
