Navy empowers northern fishing community with life-saving skills

Demonstrating its unwavering dedication to public welfare and community development, the Sri Lanka Navy joined forces with the Sri Lanka Coast Guard and the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to provide vital life-saving training for fishermen in the Northern region. The training sessions were held at SLNS Kanchadewa and SLNS Gotaimbara on 11 and 18 Jun 25.

The medical personnel from the Northern Naval Command lent their helping hand for the successful execution of the programmes in which local fishermen were equipped with essential first aid and life-saving techniques vital for emergencies at sea. Key areas covered also included non-communicable and pre-non communicable disease screening, addiction prevention, mental health awareness and education on good health practices.
