Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe honoured in farewell salute
The Sri Lanka Navy today (30 May 25) bade farewell to Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe as he relinquished his duties to which he was committed over the past 33 years in the Sri Lanka Navy.
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, along with the Board of Management of the Sri Lanka Navy, extended best wishes to the retiring senior officer celebrating his 55th birthday today. Thereupon, Rear Admiral Kumarasinghe was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions. As the customary event drew to a close, fellow naval officers made their formal farewells to the retiring senior officer, before he was sent off in a motorcade amidst the cheers of naval personnel.
Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe joined the Sri Lanka Navy as an Officer Cadet of the 21st intake in 1991. Throughout his distinguished naval career, the flag rank officer had the privilege of holding prestigious commanding positions on board ships, craft and at establishments. Additionally, he has held several other prominent appointments throughout his career, including Commanding Officer 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, Deputy Director Naval Personnel, Director Naval Policy and Plan, Commander Southern, Western and Eastern Naval Areas, Commandant Volunteer Naval Force and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy.
