In a move to protect marine ecosystems, the Sri Lanka Navy on 19 and 26 Apr 25 lend its support to several programmes, restoring and preserving the country’s coastlines in the Southern Province. The efforts were conducted as part of the project of “A Beautiful Beach - An Attractive Tourist Destination” of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative.

The Western Naval Command held its Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival (Bakmaha Ulela) in grand style at SLNS Gemunu on 27 Apr 25. The event, organized following the directives of the Commander Western Naval Area, was graced by the Chief of Staff of the Navy.

The Sri Lanka Navy on 28 Apr 25 joined hands with the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat in post-event maintenance efforts at the historic Kandy Lake, following the major spiritual gathering of “Siri Dalada Wandanawa”.
