Navy empowers fishing community on lifesaving health & crisis preparedness
A comprehensive training programme aimed at empowering fishing community on lifesaving health and crisis preparedness was successfully conducted on 11 Apr 25 at the Valaichchenai Fishery Harbour. This training was organized in partnership with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, under the Government's 'Clean Sri Lanka' initiative, which focuses on community empowerment through education as part of its social pillar.
The programme, conducted by a medical team of the Naval Hospital, Eastern Naval Command, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of local fishermen, equipping them with essential life-saving techniques and health awareness.
The programme covered Basic First Aid & Emergency Management, Basic Life Support (BLS) & Field Triage, Introduction to Lifestyle Medicine, Mental Health Awareness & Addiction Management as well as Pre-Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening & Health Promotion.
