Sri Lanka Navy supports spiritual observances at Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya
The Sri Lanka Navy facilitated a series of religious programmes at Nagadeepa Purana Rajamaha Viharaya on 02 and 03 Apr 25. These events honoured the late Chief Incumbent, the Most Venerable Brahmanawaththe Dhammakiththi Tissa Thera, and marked the 64th birthday of the temple’s present Chief Incumbent and Northern Province Chief Sanganayake, the Most Venerable Navadagala Padumakiththi Tissa Thera.
These spiritual observations had been organized under the supervision of the Commander Northern Naval Area, also seeking the wise counsel of the Chief Incumbent of Nagadeepa Temple. The observances included an all-night Pirith chanting ceremony on 02 Apr, followed by alms and Pirikara offerings to 40 members of the Maha Sangha the next day.
On the sidelines of these events, the Navy arranged lunch for the Nainativu Island community as well.
