Commander of the Navy graces sports meet of Agamethi Balika Vidyalaya, Panadura

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda on 12 Mar 25 graced the awards ceremony of the sports meet of Agamethi Balika Vidyalaya, Panadura, as the Chief Guest. The event, held at the Panadura Public Ground, was celebrated with vibrant enthusiasm and marked a successful conclusion to the school's sports festivities.

Upon his arrival, Vice Admiral Banagoda was warmly received by the school's Principal, Mrs. MKMN Fernando. He was then ushered to the main stage by the school band and cadet platoon. Also present at the ceremony was Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and a member of the school's teaching staff.

In his address, the Commander of the Navy expressed his sincere gratitude to the Principal and the organizing committee for inviting him to the event. He emphasized the school’s role as an ideal institution for nurturing both academic and co-curricular excellence, while also instilling values that bring honour to the institution. He encouraged students to heed the guidance of their teachers and elders, stressing the importance of discipline and character development through sports and drills. Additionally, he highlighted the diverse opportunities available for women in the Tri-Services, inspiring students to consider such paths in their future endeavours.

The colourful event saw the students who excelled in sports events receiving awards from the Chief Guest.
