Navy takes the plunge to fix Katagamuwa Tank sluice gate

The Sri Lanka Navy stepped forward to provide diving assistance to fix the defunct sluice gate of Katagamuwa Tank, Nikaweratiya on 10 Mar 25.

The Irrigation Department and the Disaster Management Center had sought the Navy's expertise to address the defective sluice, which was impacting the tank's operations. Responding swiftly, a team of divers from the Northwestern Naval Command was deployed to the site, where they successfully resolved the issue. The divers, with assistance from the Irrigation Department, also cleared sand, rocks, and mud that had accumulated in the sluice.

This restoration ensures the uninterrupted supply of irrigation water to over 100 acres of paddy fields, benefiting local agriculture.
