Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) qualifies for 02 Guinness World Records

Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage (Retd) achieved a remarkable feat on 09 Mar 25 by qualifying to establish 02 Guinness World Records for continuous walking on a manual treadmill over a 24-hour period.

His remarkable achievements included qualifying to be recognized for multiple records: walking an impressive 94.30 km in 12 hours, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 68.04 km and by walking 174.08 kilometers in 24 hours on a manual treadmill.

He also established three additional records, which include covering 52.56 kilometers in 6 hours, completing 50 miles in 9 hours, 56 minutes, and 16 seconds, and achieving the fastest time for miles in 20 hours, 41 minutes, and 15 seconds. These accomplishments are being proposed for future recognition by the Guinness World Records.

Rear Admiral Liyanage (Retd) achieved this remarkable feat on 09 Mar 25, setting an inspiring example for Sri Lankan youth and the global community. By qualifying to establish 02 Guinness World Records, he demonstrated that determination and unwavering courage can overcome any challenge. His extraordinary accomplishment has also brought immense pride and honour to the Sri Lanka Navy and the nation.

The Navy, under the directives of the Commander of the Navy, teamed up with the Serendib World Records, the official authority for world records, to provide all-out support to Rear Admiral Liyanage (Retd) and the dedicated judges. From the launch of the ambitious project on 08 Mar 25, to its triumphant finish, the Navy ensured all necessary resources were in place to make history.
