Navy makes waves with community service transforming beaches and tourist hotspots
Showing its commitment to community service and environmental stewardship, the Sri Lanka Navy initiated several programmes to transform iconic beaches and tourist destinations in the Southern Naval Command. The initiatives, conducted on 01 and 08 Mar 25, were part of the “Clean Sri Lanka” campaign, specifically under its “A Beautiful Beach - An Attractive Tourist Destination” project.
As a key partner of the Clean Sri Lanka Task Force, the Sri Lanka Navy extends its all-out support to this nature of community service initiatives being carried out across the island, for the realization of the vision of the “Clean Sri Lanka campaign, “Beautiful Island, Smiling People”.
Accordingly, naval personnel from SLNS Dakshina, Kawantissa, Nipuna and Ruhuna rolled up their sleeves to clean and revitalize key coastal areas, including the historic Galle Fort Beach, the scenic Hambantota Beach Park, the stretch of beach from Gintota Bridge to Rajgama, and the area from the War Heroes Monument to Pallikuda. These efforts not only enhanced the natural beauty of these locations but also aimed to boost their appeal as premier tourist destinations.
