Community gains access to clean water through RO plant at Junior School, Veherayaya
In a significant step towards ensuring access to clean drinking water, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant was declared open at Junior School, Veherayaya in Wellawaya on 28 Feb 25. This initiative, spearheaded by the Sri Lanka Navy's Research and Development Unit, is part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project, which continues to make a positive impact.
The newly inaugurated RO plant, built with the industrial expertise of the Navy's Research and Development Unit, is the 1,085th unit delivered under the NSR Project. The project was sponsored by Dr. Perakum Ovitigala. With a daily purification capacity of approximately 10,000 liters, the plant is set to provide safe drinking water to the students of the school and the surrounding community.
